Spring Hairstyles for Curls

After a long, long winter of tucking our hair away into hoods, hats and headbands, spring is finally here – time to unleash our curls! Here are four new ways curly hairstyles that will showcase the beautiful spring in your curls!

1. Go to Hairstyle
One of my new favourite hair accessories is this braided headband. You can find it at most hair accessory stores and it comes in a multitude of colours to match your exact hair tone to give a realistic look. For a fresh update for your curls, try slipping on the headband. It’ll look like you spent a lot of time braiding your hair into a headband, when it really only took two seconds to pull the look together!

2. Ponytail with a Twist
Using the same braided headband, gather your hair into a low ponytail. Don’t make the ponytail too tight because the style looks best when there’s a bit of volume at the crown of your head. Create a part at the base of the ponytail, and flip your hair over and through the space you just created. Make any adjustments necessary and you have a beautiful twist on the traditional ponytail!

3. Princess Curls
I call this style “Princess Curls” because I find there’s something regal about half updos. The most flattering looks have a little bit of a bouffant at the crown of the head. To begin, grab about an inch of hair on either side of your head. Loosely gather it at the highest point on your head and secure with bobby pins or a small clip. Lightly brush your hair back, using a little bit of Tweek, a hairspray in cream form, and you’re done! Now all you need is your Prince Charming!

4. Bow Bun
I find nothing more glamorous than a great big bun. Gather your hair into a really high ponytail. I smoothed out the front and back of my hair using Tweek. Next, grab your hair doughnut, or a big (clean!) sock with the toes cut out, and place it at the base of the ponytail. Wrap your hair over the bun and secure with bobby pins. To make your bun stand out from the crowd, twist the overhang all around the bun to make a mini-crown and hold it in place with a few more bobby pins. You can leave it like this or, if you’d really like to maximize the sweet factor, add a bow clip to the back!

The beauty of natural curls is that they look lovely when down, but with a few easy steps, they can be taken to the next level.
